This is outside my regular field, but I know that various species will have varied rates of nutrient up-take. Do you have the capacity to 'tag' various nutrients and then examine take-up rates, without destroying the consortia? I am also aware that metabolites vary by species and conditions. Can you conduct different temperature/light/etc. experiments and then examine growth- again without destruction?
