In my opinion, at first you must prepare your data (precipitation) by running some GCMs, after that, use those data as transient to estimate the effect of climate change on your aquifer in future.

If you want to get precise input into your MODFLOW model due to climate changes like precipitation rate, evapotranspiration, .. etc, then, you better set up and develope a surface water model (using HSPF or SWB) with physical boundaries that match the MODFLOW model boundaries. Then, you can use the HSPF or SWB results like for example, recharge package, as input for your MODFLOW model.

If you want to see how climate impacts on groundwater systems, the last place to look are climate models. The first thing you need to do is take climate models out of your equation altogether. They are as far from the scientific method as you can get. Climate models are flawed. None of the models rely on past climate history but rather a mathematical theory based on refuted, negated, falsified, fake and fraudulent pseudoscience. They all have a built in assumption that CO2 causes warming. There are zero scientific papers in the empirical record that show this from observations based on experiment.

Models are nothing more than a computer program. As they say in the computer industry: "Garbage in - Garbage out".[i]

Climate models all incorporate:

· Ben Santer’s “human fingerprint” on the earth’s climate that doesn’t exist. IPCC’s AR2 report was fraudulently altered;

· Every model has an inbuilt assumption that CO2 causes warming. No scientific proof, just an assumption.

· Lewis Fry Richardson’s flawed atmospheric model equation;

· Michael Mann’s fraudulent hockey stick graph;

· Arrhenius' flawed hypothesis of the greenhouse effect;

· The multiplier effect of water vapor feedback. The flawed CO2 increases water vapor hypothesis;

· A corrupted peer review process.

The last place to look for anything that will help you are climate models.

Climate models are purpose designed to give a predetermined answer. They have failed to predict the last 40 years of hindsight. I.e. They knew what the answer was and the models still got the answer wrong. They have failed to predict anything. They are nothing more than a mathematical theory. I could design a model that shows if the one eyed frog in the Amazon goes extinct, the Earth heats up. Climate models are fakery.

There are many variables that effect the climate. CO2 is not one of them. None of these variables are used in climate models. CO2 is the only variable used and it has zero effect on climate.

It is impossible to predict climate. If you made a real model that has all the correct variables, running on the world's largest super computer, and ran it to make a prediction for 40 years time, by the time those 40 years passed the model would still be calculating.

You can't rely on today's climate models for anything. Unless you want to use them for political activism, which is what they were designed for.
