You'll need to experiment with a number of known wavelets or make one yourself. There's infinitely infinite to choose from.
The way to know that the wavelet you choose works well is if the output of the transformation separates into bands.
My suggestion would be to map the actual wavelet you are recording into the transformation so your mathematical transformation has real application, rather than being a mismatch of what happened to work and what doesn't.
In this scenario, the wavelet is used simply as a scale guide for an impulse, so perhaps a symlet or daubechies, but I would opt for a smoother representation and something that takes the full width of window to produce a smallest width sharp spike either in the centre or slightly off-centre. This will create a unitary scalable resonance and is likely to have bandings.
