Students are setting up a private cloud, what software to use to evaluate the cloud and what parameters to measure ? Could anyone mention a few good papers in set-up and evaluation of private cloud ?

The first paper, even though it says it focuses on the geosciences, is a pretty good general listing of evaluation criteria and software you can use for a private cloud. It also reviews three open source cloud packages (OpenStack noticeably missing) . The second link lists lots of good criteria, but doesn't describe evaluation results.
