I want to know about the current status of plant genome sequencing in this world. How is the reference genome in this case? Does anybody have any knowledge regarding the topic of Plant genome sequence?
Reference genome is like this: let's say that a genome of a sugarcane variety 'A' has been completely sequenced, and when a research want to sequence the genome of another sugarcane variety 'B'. S/he can use variety A genomic sequence as reference. In this case, variety A genome is a *reference genome* (to variety B genome).
Here is a good review paper. It describes plant genome sequencing progress. Title: Genome sequences of horticultural plants: past, present, and future (1).Attachment shows summary of plant Orders with sequenced genomes (1). 175 angiosperms genomes have been sequenced.
