I'm mainly interested to understand in which fields integration of this kind is already used and how it can be performed, that is how we can simultaneously acquire the hyperspectral and 3D information about objects?

One of the potential issues here is finding a form that would be able to accommodate the information content, i.e. X,Y,Z, wavelength, intensity... We faced a similar dilemma and came up with spectro-angular maps that combine information from the angular domain (0-360 deg) with wavelength & intensity. Then we made a movie of a spectro-angular map evolving with distance (i.e., source-detector separation). I have a feeling that it might be difficult to create a single representation/plot etc.. Perhaps, somebody would solve it...
Thank you for your responses, Henning, Serge and Florian.
In my PhD research, I would like to consider the opportunity of applying the Integral Imaging/Plenoptic/Light field techniques for 3D data acquisition, so, I will be very glad if somebody will recommend references relevant to understand in which fields used or may be used 3D data (obtained by Integral Imaging technique) combined with hyperspectral data.
But, references on the other 3D techniques are also welcome.
we have published several papers on this topics, especially through Janja Avbelj, you might find papers under https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Janja_Avbelj and http://scholar.google.de/citations?user=8TjNw7kAAAAJ&hl=de
Thank you for your responses, Rebecca, Alessandro and Peter.
Does anybody know the additional 3D techniques not considered above, but which also can be used for simultaneous acquisition of the 3D and hyperspectral data?
