We would like to use water cooling with our sCMOS camera (Hamamatsu Orca Flash 4) to avoid any vibrations caused by the fan. The user manual recommends a standard water circulator bath, which seems to us rather bulky and heavy-weight for the purpose. Does anyone have an experience with any more compact solution which would work for the purpose?
I've tried small pump for CPU water cooling, but it probably didn't generate sufficient flow velocity to remove the heat from the camera since the signal to ratio went down compared to air cooling.
What about placing a suitable fan or air compressor outside the casing and conduct the air flow through a flexible tube to the chip?
Thanks Marc, it's an interesting idea and may work. Unless the flow of air from the external source makes the internal fan rotate which may then cause vibrations. Would need some testing.
In that case just block or remove the internal fan.

Just a note. As vibration is a major concern for you, water pumps generate vibration and need to be placed away from the setup. I agree that an external fan can lead to vibrations as well. In our optical tweezers we often catch the vibrations from the fans in the ventilation systems. If you have the means, what you can do is inclosing the camera in a sealed box to which you pump cooled dehumidified air. I would also check for other commercially available water circulations systems
