I'm looking at equine, music, construction [ala Habitat for Humanity but veteran-focused], ranching, etc. for non-traditional treatment or programs….but not CBT, EMDR, EFT, etc.. Thank you in advance for any help!
Below are links to two items that may assist you. The first four links regard the "Chicago Block" injection that has proven 100% successful in clinical trials. This is an amazing discovery that if used after diagnosis can minimize the number of people suffering.
The remaining sites are about a retreat ran by a widow of a career Navy Seal. The ABC news article serves as an introduction. Her site for Landing Zone (L-Z) Grace lists all activities under the services tab. Most of them correlate to the examples you listed. This retreat is for the individual, couples, and families too. Lynn is very educated and compassionate and will help guide you in your research. Growing up in a military family, I know first hand that individuals are reluctant to seek help in fear of being further stigmatized. They find it extremely difficult to transition from handling everything for themselves to acceptance of needing outside help.
Good luck and thank you for researching this crucial subject.
Thank you, for your ideas! They're great, especially as the next stage in my research is fast approaching. Yes, I too, come from a military family. My natural father had severe PTSD-related symptoms, and now, to a much lesser extent, my son is displaying some of them as well. I wholeheartedly agree that this is a crucial area for research.
Killing in war is a strong provoker of PTSD. Also air raids, shell shocks, guessing that the war is hopeless, lack of faith, surviving guilt, enhanced desire to live, to conceive and to "holidays" with morally bad life. The concept sin is forgotten.
I found in the WHO:s recommendations after the Bosnian war in late 1990 that for persons who suffered from those evil things they were forced to do during the war the remedy was as follows:
Go to the representant for the faith you confess: priest, reverend, minister, iman, Bishop and so on:
Ask what kind of religious rituals you have to do for your "purification".
Do them.
Ask for absolvation from the Highest you believe in through the servant of that faith.
The Warrior Combat Stress Reset Program (Reset) was an integrative medicine day treatment program using complementary and alternative therapies in combination with trauma-focused psychological interventions. Very effective. I have data on outcomes of about 700 soldiers if that would help? Email [email protected]
