Scales are keeled, eye is relatively large with round pupil and there is a light dorsal stripe with dark spots on margins. Overall body color is light brown, with some darker markings on head. It is most likely a Stoteria dekayi.

I believe the genus name is correct, but given that this snake was from Florida, it is likely Storeria victa (common name: Florida Brown Snake). It was split from Storeria dekayi back in the 1980's based on some morphological traits, and further evidence justifying this split occurred recently in a 2016 paper utilizing morphology and molecular data.
