MPPT is maximum power point tracking. It is one of the most important element in a solar pv system. Conventional algorithms in MPPT are perturb and observe or incremental conductance method. Can soft computing techniques be incorporated into it to increase its efficiency and improve its flexibility?
Perturb and observe (P&O) and Incremental conductance (IC) methods are conventional. They provide static search steps to find maximum power point (MPP). However soft computing techniques such as fuzzy logic can provide dynamic search steps. As a result, fuzzy logic based mppt medthod can provide fast covergence and robust performance compared to conventional methods such as P&O and IC.
