It can be the best species for polyculture, and the pH has to around 7.3. Formulated feed are available for fast growth.

Nice to hearing from you regarding the culture of Mullet. In Bangladesh we practice the poly culture of a Mullet (Rhinomugil corsula) in coastal ponds. Any way, I have supervise a MS thesis entitled "CULTURE POTENTIALITY OF Mystus gulio IN SALINITY INTRUSION PRONE AREAS OF NOAKHALI COAST, BANGLADESH" in which Mullet (Rhinomugil corsula) was culture with Mystus gulio. We will publish an article from this work in ISI index Journal with impact factor soon. Any way if you want I can send you the Doc (only for your personal use until we published it).
Hello, one of the bottle necks in the culture of mullets is the imposibility to reproduce in captivity. If you are trying to start a mullet culture you must to catch fingerlings in the nature and then grow in captivity, and the same way in each new cycle of production. Any way for the kind information of Alejandro Perretta that The Bangladeshi Fisheries Scientists (Bangladesh Fisheries Rsearch Institute, Paikghach, Khulna) were already got success in artificial Breeding (induce breeding) of Mullet (Rhinomugil corsula) which may pave the way to do more in case of Mugil cephalus ( I hope in very recent future).
