I have tried using the Ionic Gelation method. I have used 1% acetic acid for different concentrations of chitosan (0.05%, 0.1%, 0.25%, & 0.5%). And I used TPP to make the chitosan method. The pH for the chitosan was around 5. But, when the SEM images were taken, we can only see some sheets of the chitosan not nanoparticle. What could be wrong in my preparation method and is there any other method with which I can get correct Chitosan nanoparticle.
I was able to produce nanoparticles with definite sizes by addition a surfactant (Tween 80) into the chitosan solution before the TPP. I don't know if adding that after the TPP will have the same effect. However, I characterized the particle after coating with sodium alginate for a specific purpose. As of now I don't know which of these factors contributed to getting the definite sizes.
