In my opinion . should you leave out one of them? I mean should you select one because both are important.
It is a tough situation. If you have relatives and friends that can help share some of the burden that may ease the situation. Do not hesitate to spread the word around that you need help. You will be amazed at the number of people willing to help in different ways - from temples/churches/religious institutions, to colleagues and relatives. Sometimes, I have felt reluctant to ask for help but it is a good idea to let your needs be known.
Doing a PhD with kids is really difficult but not impossible. Needs so much patience and motivation. The husband and relatives ( if have) can help. Otherwise, childcare is a good option. I am doing PhD and I am a mother of two kids. It is challenging but my kids are the reason that I am doing my PhD.
