In an image I have 3-7 micron diameter droplets. The density of droplets is very large and the size is small. I used imfindcircles command. I tried tresholding and sensitivity commands also. But the program is randomly detecting some circles and the count varies. Can someone guide me for some commands which detect small sized circles.

I tried ImageJ. But it does not recognise the droplets. Can I have some ways to reduce the noise and detect them
I am pretty sure(imageJ) Analyze -> Measure will do !!!
When you say noise is it the background , because the white drops are the foreground .
In matlab : imfindcircles( ) will do it provided you give the exact radius of the object your are searching

You could try to use blob analysis functions on matlab such as regionprops

you can do this by segmenting circles of all size by dilation of image then threshold it to convert image into binary. To select the circle of specific size, apply image erosion and dilation morphological operation with structure element. All these operations depends on size of the image and its calibration with respect to micron circles.
