Have you looked for a company called Altaeros?
They are from MIT and showed the first working prototype of an airborne wind turbine. I fear they may be not too open about their system, but at least you can try there to get some infos.
Hi! I looked at the photo of the Altaeros device but was not impressed. If you want to tap into high level winds then use something like a tethered autogyro connected to a conventional generator. However, there's a lot of work to be done to make it practical!

If you want to model a traction power system you may want to use our dynamic system simulator FreeKiteSim. This tool is programmed in Python and available OpenSource from https://bitbucket.org/ufechner/freekitesim. It includes dynamic model components for the wing the tether and the ground station.
