At the place of collection, herbaceous vegetation was completely dry. In the middle of herbaceous vegetation, I identified some plants of the family Fabaceae. Most of the pods were already open and without seeds. I collected some seeds for species identification, in July, in Barca de Alva, Portugal.
This photography was taken with magnifying glass (200 x).
I inserted two more photos to help identify.
Please, insert new photos enabling the view of the hilum and micropyle. Please, also describe the seed coat paterns.
It is difficult. I looked and i remember Ornithopus, Medicago, Lotus....

I would like to thank you for your questions. Some times seeds may be difficult fr know some species for that I recommend you to germinate these seeds till get a complete plant, flowering stage and get new seeds It may be essay of have a look on complete plant it will be easy identified.

I agree with Dr. Khaled F M Salem, is it the longest way, but you will get all required information required for identification, beside viability percentage of seeds, germination. and morphology of the whole plant. You can also compare the seeds with the plants you already found in the study area of Portugal. Good luck!

Hello, if you have a sample list of flora (limiting the search range) try to view herbarium collections are often pasted on sheets of envelopes with seeds allowing direct comparison with the collection of samples found.

I support the comment of Dr. Khaled. It would be scientific to germinate the seeds and Identification of flowers will be the proper way to know the plant. Seeds cannot be identified to know the name of the specific plant.
With respect to te discussion that has arisen, I clarify that I´m just suggesting we possible identification available (seeds, harvested in a given region).
I think some seeds, with peculiar characteristics, when coming from a particular regional flora, allow at least make an initial approach to their determination .
I totally agree that germinating seeds we have other critical characters to make a positive identification.
Hello Felomina, I suggest that you compare your samples with herbarium specimens of seeds under the Fabaceae family for identification. However, if the identity is still uncertain, try to extract DNA from it along with other Fabaceae species then do PCR using chloroplast DNA markers, then have it sequenced and then perform BLAST analysis.
