The problem may be due to unequal number of elements in each row in the data frame returned by using read.table. You can try using the argument “fill=TRUE” in your command like this ->
Thanks you all. I did find where it all went wrong. I was only interested in precipitation extremes. It appeared the software only load data when the six elements are included as suggested by Kristina. Thanks
I think the correct name should be weather extreme and not climate extreme. These events are influenced by man made climate change but they occur on day basis thus need to be called weather extreme events
