I am going to try detecting GFP and tdTomato expressed by Candida albicans in the murine GI tract. The previous antibodies I tried cross-reacted with Candida albicans proteins by Western blot so are unusable if I want to specifically detect when these fluorescent proteins are being expressed. The antibodies cannot be generated in mice because the secondary will also react with mouse tissue. The samples to be stained are fixed tissue sections so using the native fluorescence of GFP or tdTomato will not work either.
