The problem is associated with interpersonal relationship with and communication supervisor, research approaches and academic politeness. Such configuration is difficult to cope in the short time. The best thing would be to choose another supervisor who approves qualitative approach to the researches, or at least respects them. If you cannot do it, maybe the best you can do is discuss for longer time while meetings every key points and details of the qualitative methodology you want to use. Your supervisor may not  be also sure,  if you are methodologically able to perform research properly. I think  it will take a few months even of the merit,  methodological discussions with your supervisor.  You'll learn while such discussions too. This is not wasting the time.

Has the advisor's guide led you in an already known result, easy found in literature?

Then you have to avoid them, since a PhD must be an original work.

Anyway, keep in a polite and civilized manner.

I am still doing my doctoral degree. I'm grateful to have two supporting supervisors. I always keep them informed what I am doing now and then. There are times when we don't agree with each other, but I bring evidences of my work. When they agree it is all smiles, when they are not, the face expression lasts longer. For me, its normal, if they don't like it, there must be something lacking in my ideas - so I asked why in our discussions. The relationship and rapport is always positive, Thank you GOD for that. We converse not only face to face, but through text messages and 'Whatsapp' application. And I do agree with all being academically polite - its a very strong word actually. We still need them through this journey.

The first thing in human nature is to understand that everyone has different perceptions of what they know to be true.  You have a perception of the facts that you know are to be correct because your research has led you to that perception.  If your supervisor feels that his perception of your research is incorrect, ask him to give you a viable explanation of his perception of your work.  You are not saying he does not know anything because he is not current, you want to know how different his perception is from yours.  I agree with the above show your research, show current trends of facts, and if that does not work, politely ask for a different supervisor, but remember that even upon getting another supervisor, you may run smack into the same situation.  A good supervisor though, should also help you to understand how he came to his perception of your research and this may help you in turn by knowing that his perception although different could relatively come to the same conclusion. As others have said in their threads, you should be very humble, polite but firm; and willing to change if you are convinced that  he is right. I agree, often people do not update their knowledge for various reasons, and then this kind of situations do occur. I have seen this happening in several different spheres. You should also increase your communication with the supervisors. Often, lack of communication, and super-ego of the supervisor can also cause these problems. If the situation is too serious, you may even think of changing the supervisor by talking to the department head, but that must be the last resort, and must be avoided as far as possible. Also use some bit of tact. Sometimes, we use use a tone that shows that we are undermining the other person. That might also be the reason for this.
