UV-visible for any compound can be measured only when all compound molecules are in solution. That means when every molecule is surrounded by solvent molecules. There is no way that UV-visible can give any estimation of a molecule particle size.
really depend on the type of particles. nanoparticles have size-tunable absorption spectrum, so UV-vis absorption peaks can be used to correlated with nanoparticle size. But you do need to know the composition of the particles.
Hi syed,....In addition to previous answer, in UV-Vis Spectroscopy there are two type spectroscopies such as absorption and reflectance. If you mean absorption, so the material should have a phi bond or non-bond electrons (remember : HOMO - LUMO concept) and the sample must be in solution (colloid, as mentioned above ) then followed by calculation, you can get the particles size. However, reflectance spectroscopy can be used to measure the band gap the material (in solid-sample)
