Can anyone advise how to put a complex microsoft excel spreadsheet online, an xls with many tabs, etc, in a protected format, viewable in a browser. There are some conversion sites that work with really simple single pages, but a complex design? Only the first tab needs to be visible, the rest perform background calculations etc. Download must be disallowed.
Have you tried google drive? It basically offers the possibility of posting a link to the file. You can protect the file from your workspace against download and content extraction.
There is also Microsoft Skydrive. You can generate a link to the file, give people access to the file via e-mail, etc. They will be able to view the file in a web-based version of Excel with read-only access. https://skydrive.live.com/
You might put appropriate sheet and cell protections on the workbook, restrict access to the key part of the screen and share the screen (using VNC for example).
