A good place to start if you want to focus on a particular L1, is to look for corpora that match your required criteria (and then search for articles that cite them as references). Here's a list: http://www.uclouvain.be/en-cecl-lcworld.html

As far as books, books by Gass and Selinker or by R. Ellis are more introductory but tend to provide good references for each topic. And, if you read Spanish I suggest you an essential book if you analize language from a functional perspective Cecilia Rojas Nieto y Donna Jackson-Maldonado (eds.) (2011): "Interacción y uso lingüístico en el desarrollo de la lengua materna. México": Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México/Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro, 284 pp.a

Here is a short overview to get you started. There are references to some influential works. But understand that this is a whole field of study, with now over 60 years of formal scholarship, and several dedicated journals. BTW, the best available textbook is Eve Clark's, I think 2009 published by CUP (if memory serves). Good luck!
For my language acquisition classes, I use Stillwell Peccei (introductory) as well as Ambridge and Lieven (a bit more advanced).
