For a single node, having a defined domain of influence, there are some gauss points inside the domain. How can I extract the co-ordinates of those gauss points from a particular grid of gauss points using matlab?
The problem is for a plate with edge crack, and in total there are 4536 gauss points on the plate, I want to extract co-ordinates for the gauss points for node no.20. There are total 150 nodes 10 in x direction 15 in y direction.

i have already defined gauss points assigned them weights but i want to plot a 3-D graph for a single node having all the gauss points its its influence. so how can i extract the co-odinates of those gauss points using MATLAB??? im using EFGM
Hi Sahil;
It depends on the shape of domain of influence that you have.
The easiest one is the circular domain, in which case you can use "rangesearch" and define a radius around the node and matlab will return a cell with the points within the domain.
If you have a rectangular domain, then one possibility is to do the following
- define the length and width of the domain
- identify the vertices of the rectangle (i.e. half length and width in both directions, assuming the node is at the centre of the domain)
-use "inpolygon" to find the gauss points within that rectangle.
PS. since you mentioned that you have defined the Gauss points, I assumed that their coordinates are known to you.
