I will be doing some in-vivo recordings in future.The idea is to see how brain structures like amygdala, mPFC, ventral hippocampus respond to stress. This in combination to some behavioral test to see how stress alters animals ability to process a particular task. I have a good hand for surgeries, and basic understanding of the neuronal circuits. Also aware of the hardware used for the purpose (like electrodes, drives, pre-amplifiers and related stuff ). But not able to orient myself to the basic in-vivo elecrophysiology. Basically the alph, gama, wave and what does that mean? Local field potentials what do they represents?
So need some basic papers or book to orient myself.

Hard to find one single reference that can give you all you need - especially that new recording techniques and analyses come out everyday. I try to introduce you a handful of useful sources:
1) I would recommend this for basics of electrophysiology:

2) Then, have a look here for general info regarding LFP: http://www.scholarpedia.org/article/Local_field_potential It can give a you a head up where to look for detailed information.
3) If you want to know more about brain oscillations (btw, if you know different EEG bands, then LFP is basically the same), check these two papers:

4) Make sure to check works by Pascal Fries and Anton Sirota in order to get good hands in LFP analysis.

Indeed, there is no single resource for all that you want to know. It's one of the downsides of the brain being so complicated ;) The references suggested above are good. For data analyses of the LFP, there's another one I can recommend: http://mitpress.mit.edu/9780262019873

LFPs are basically EEG data. Delta, theta, gamma etc. are frequencies of LFP.
The power spectral density of the LFP data changes with drugs, wakefulness etc.
LFP data is useful in determining the location of an electrode within the brain. For example, within the hippocampus the presence of ripples (bursts of synchronous activity) in the LFP is indicative of the an electrode being in CA1.
In contrast to LFP data is the single unit or spike data. High and low pass filters are used to separate these two types of data (i.e., LFP from single unit).
Single unit data is related to LFP data in terms of spike timing which can also be influenced by drugs, running speed etc.
