my extraction sample is in liquid form and it is methonolic extract, I need my sample in solid form , is there any traditional method of convertion other than rotary evoporator, lyophilizer and freeze drying techniques, please let me know.
One traditional method of converting liquid plant extracts into solid form is by using a water bath. This involves heating the liquid extract in a water bath until the solvent evaporates and the solid residue is left behind. However, this method may not work for methanol extracts as methanol has a low boiling point and can be flammable.
Another method is by using a desiccator. A desiccator is a container that contains a drying agent such as silica gel or calcium chloride. The liquid extract is placed in a container inside the desiccator, and the drying agent absorbs the moisture from the extract, leaving behind a solid residue. This method is slow and may take several days to produce a solid residue.
Another method is by precipitation. This involves adding a precipitating agent such as ammonium sulfate or acetone to the liquid extract, which causes the dye to precipitate out of the solution. The precipitate can then be collected and dried to produce a solid residue.
It is important to note that the choice of method will depend on the nature of the plant sample, the type of solvent used for extraction, and the desired properties of the final product.
Thank you for the response Anand Rathod and Abdullah khan sir, we have tried water bath evouporation technique sir, but no use sir we get sticky mass instead of dry sample. is there any protocols or specific conditions like usage of solvents and methods for the extraction of natural dye can you please suggest me sir
