For a correct identification and also for providing information for the entomological community following data are needed: date, origin, habitat, measures and good photos. In this case the picture was fine.
I agree that it is Acherontia lachesis, but there is a faint blue tornal dot enclosed by a black submarginal band on the hindwing upperside,which is a typical pattern of A. styx. This species has its extra-limital range in eastern India and neighboring regions, a case of introgression may have occurred. I'd like to know what Acherontia researchers think. Maybe they've seen these mixed patterns before.
