It looks like a contaminant in the form of a butterfly's scale. So I agree with the answer given by De Smet
But I have this specimen from Sundarban Mangrove Forests of Bangladesh part!!!! I was also planning to add this to know the name. I would upload the picture tomorrow!!
I usually see this thing in a freshwater samples too. So I agree with the others, some fragements of something.
It is not some fragements. It is a butterfly's scale as already wrote.

I don't think its a butterfly scale because it is dominating in most of the water sample collected from various place in Barak valley Assam and it is not visible wid naked eyes.And I don't think butterfly is present in all the sampling station

I use to get this species frequently from Andaman coastal waters. I too feel this may be a scale of some fishes!
This is probably a butterfly scale and it is also relatively common in freshwater samples.
