I perpared CuO nanostructures material . I also observed the three well know peaks at position 300, 357, 621. But there are alot of other peaks also observered in my samples at position (426, 984,1049,1113,1329,1631,1692).Most of authors discused only initial three peaks.
hi, if u r sure enough phase pure CuO from XRD. then think about the impurities which may not detect by XRD. all these higher wavenumbers related to nonstoichiometry or lighter elements or defects etc.
I'd particularly check your peaks against the literature for Cu(OH)2, Cu2O, CuOH, and the hydrides of copper.
And the substrate, of course.
May be due to impurity go for EDAX, and It might be possible different nano structure formation in your sample for confirmation go for TEM.
The reason may be the amorphous or mixed phase of copper oxide with defects. Multi-phonon scattering is also possible as Mr. R. P. Wang mentioned.
