Can any one have idea about stepwise procedure/methodology of parametric optimization of Electric discharge machining of MMC? Actually, from which steps to start the process and which optimization method is preferable because taguchi approach has been already taken by different researchers. So, which further approach would be considered for research ?

Decide the parameters for your investigation, like current, pulse on/off time, duty cycle and all according to your machine setup.

Dear Dignesh, Thank you for your response. I have query that initially, analytical calculation/ mathematical modeling done or practical performance ? Have you any reference of Box-Behnken Method of RSM & software design expert 10 is similar to Minitab ???
A mathematical model will come after performing regression analysis on Design expert or Minitab. To deal with those software just read "help " menu on it.
For box-Bahenken design you can go through a book by Paul G. Mathews, Design of Experiments with MINITAB.
Develop a mathematical model based on some basic equation of physics. The mathematical model should be of the form: Single Output (MRR/ Surface Roughness/ Tool Wear) = f [input parameters (Ton, Toff, Current, Voltage)]. After getting this relation, plot the values of input (that is to be used in experiments) and generate a curve. Then conduct the experiments. An experimental plot will also be generated base on single output and multiple input. Validate the experimental results based on your model. Regression model gives you an empirical formula. Whereas getting an analytical model develops your understanding of the process (Physics involved)

Following steps can be followed for stepwise procedure/methodology of parametric optimization of Electric discharge machining of MMCs.
Initially, decide which approach you want to use to derive the equations. You can use regression equations based on experimental analysis or analytical approach based on physics of process.
Regression model gives you an empirical formula. Whereas getting an analytical model develops your understanding of the process (Physics involved)
For Experimental Method:
1. Select the the DOE method to generate the experiments. e.g Taguchi, OFT, RSM (CDD, FCD, Box-Behnken, etc.).
2. Perform the experiments.
3. Analyze the results: ANOVA analysis and regression analysis will yield into the mathematical equations for your responses / performance variables.
Taguchi is widely used for single response optimization problems and based on S/N ratio analysis you will get optimum level for each process parameter and then you have to do validation experiments to confirm the optimal conditions. For multi-response optimization you can use RSM. In RSM, you can use desirability approach which can give multi-response optimization.
