we are going to make data base fora cid value quantification.our reaction contain polyol, adipic acid, and TIPT catalyst. we are intresting to find acid value with the passage of time. when acid value decrease upto 16, we add TIPT catalyst. we want to measure acid value upto or less than 1.
can any body help me to mark peak range for adipic acid conc. determination?

Adipic Acid or Hexanedioic acid has a very simple IR Spectrum. The major peak of interest are the two peaks. First at 1690 cm-1 for the CO stretch and other at 3100 cm-1 for OH stretch. To determine the concentration of adipic acid, you should note the intensities of the peaks in different solutions. With decrease in concentration, the intensities will also decrease. You can make a graph for the Conentration Vs Intensity using a pure standard of Adipic Acid. Thereafter, you can check the concentration of your sample with that linear curve obtained from standard.
Note that while measuring the IR, your samples should not have any other compound which contains any carbonyl or Hydroxyl group.
