I am using Landsat images for LULC changes. I want to apply change detection technique like change vector analysis and image rationing for this land use change analysis. I am trying to do image rationing in ERDAS model maker but it always shows division by zero is undefined. I have no idea regarding these methods. Which software is used for this analysis? What are the methods for doing these analysis?
You can also use Idrisi. UNITAR used to have training discs which covered these area with the ability to follow a cookbook recipe exercise. If I still have the documentation I'll send them to you.

Dividing by zero gives an infinity error as you may know very well. In computing too, a program error may result if you attempt to divide by zero. Bascially, with the execution of your model, for example, Band1 divided by Band2 (Band1/Band2) somewhere you get a zero value in the denominator. Therefore, ERDAS Imagine pops up this error message.
You can use a conditional statement to avoid the 'division by zero' error. I have created a band ratio model in ERDAS Imagine model maker. Following is the conditional statement which you can use for the attached model (image).
EITHER 0 IF ( $n6_memory == 0 ) OR $n5_memory / $n6_memory OTHERWISE

If you have ENVI, it is also a good tool for change detection.

In ENVI: Classification --> Post Classification --> Change Detection Statistics
initial state = image 1
final state = image 2
There is also an option where you can see the change detection statistics output.
