has anyone come across incidences where an oyster grows exactly as the shape of its substrate? When I say this I talk about the upper valve that is free (lower valve is cemented to the substrata). Please do share your views and similar works if reported.

You are probably right that several species of mature Oysters do take the shape of hard substrate on which the lower valve is cemented. This is my personal observation.

100% agreed Dr. Syed, this is indeed the case. My curiosity is whether the upper valve responds by molding to the shape of the lower valve while the shell is growing!!
