No guidelines as per my knowledge goes. Many Allopathic doctors prescribes Herbal Ayurveda medicines in particular proprietary having done clinical trials. In view of comprehensive treatment it is worth. All over world Integrative practice is more popular and prevalent being ideal. There is need of Integrative post graduate course for all medical graduates, irrespective of medical discipline. The Ministry of health should take the initiative in this regard, the present existing post graduate courses should continue as it is, only a new comprehensive integrative medicine MD may start open to all medical graduates.
HEALTH AND DISEASE HAS NO 'PATHY'. whatever the things going on, the spirit should be to preserve health or to cure the disease. Most of the people behind pathies are forgetting this fact
Every medical pathy has some strength and some weakness but if all are utilized in the treatment the patient will get suitable treatment. Every pathy has some thing to contribute in other pathy related specialty, this will be a value addition for effectiveness. Better to initiate a post graduate course in integrative medicine but continuing all existed post graduate courses as it is.
There are allopathic doctors who do prescribe certain topical (non-systemic) ayurveda preparations as shampoo, oil or lotion. However, generally it is good for doctors and patients to stick to one field of health sciences as there are no much studies are done to show the compatibility of combining an Ayurveda preparation with allopthic tablets. There is no data available on adverse reactions, interactions and whether each drug maintains its efficacy when the other drug is given. For example an Ayurveda preparation may be an enzyme inducer which metabolizes the other drug quickly thereby reducing its efficacy in the normal dose. This is is the main drawback of combining allopathy with ayurveda because we do not have enough scientific evidence
once a clinical trial is done, and is found useful in the treatment of specific disease, at the same time, if all heavy metals as mentioned is below the permissible limits, should not be an issue, as such medical fraternity should strive in giving quality treatment and bring back smile in the patients face.
