Association of hs-CRP in the pathophysiology of increased cardiovascular risk in patients with hypothyroidism
The link between high acute phase reactant, hs-CRP in increasing the risk of cardiovascular disease is mediated through obesity and metabolic syndrome that are associated with insulin resistance and hypothyroidism, as it is not mediated by TSH. These are in turn associated with other cardiovascular risks through atherosclerosis.
