Can a wet scrubber (packed column) be used for moisture removal from gas?

Hi,

Wet scrubbers are generally used to remove particulate matter or water soluble impurities from the gasses. I was wondering if they can be used for removal of moisture from a gas. If yes, then is there any theory/ principle which will govern their working?
