Can a research on finding ratios which can predict a stock performance give important insights. What kind of analysis can be possibly used in this apart from co-relation analysis. I have already gathered data of 800+ companies and their ratios with the context of indian markets.

If you are taking a purely quantitative approach, Jim Simons' Medallion Fund has solved it using Markov chains. However the specific methods have not been made public.
