Is it possible for a p-type semiconductor to give electrochemical oxygen evolution reaction .If yes , then what would be possible mechanism of charge transfer
Can. Oxygen can escape from the electrolyte and form bubbles. it can also be released from the semiconductor if it is an impurity. Oxide films and crystallites are more often formed on the surface.
P type semiconductor can be used as an anode in an electrochemical reaction to get oxygen since the oxygen ion can give its two electrons to the electrode and gets free. But this requires that the semiconductor must not get oxidized with oxygen. It may be conductive p-type oxide.
