Generally, in zero-field-cooled (ZFC) process, with a stop during cooling under a zero field, if a dip shows up upon reheating it is attributed to memory effect and in a similar way for the Field Cooled (FC) process also. Can a ferromagnetic system possess memory effect or a memory effect is a characteristic of glassy dynamics of a system only?
This effect belongs to slow dynamics and thermally activated systems. I don't think it could show up in a normal ferromagnet. However, it may be seen in frustrated or disordered ferromagnets.
