Is the calculation of path loss for a technology always based on propagation model calculated manually or can path loss be calculated based on input parameters using radio planning software?
There are professional frquency and network planning tools available, in order to input your network details such as terminal or basestation equipment specification, terain details, installation height, etc. and the tool will provide all the necessary details for you. If only the free space loss for your case is necessary, then simple math equations available into the WiMAX standards will do your job.
Thanks for your concern. I am using a radio planning tool named ICS telecom by ATDI (Advanced topographic development images).
Path loss analysis is done for Mobile WiMAX technology (IEEE 802.16e) with different terrain models and propagation models.
May I know the name of those tools you mentioned that calculates path loss by just input of network details. the above mentioned software is not as mentioned and requires manual calculation.
@ Igor Gepko.. I wish to work on cartography. thanks.
One of the tools that I'm talking about is EDX (www.edx.com). We were using this tool when I was working for INTRACOM Telecom in Greece and I do not know if there's a stdent or trial version of this tool available for free. Have a look at EDX web site and I'm sure that you will findout. There are also other tools as well, and a quick look into Internet will help you find out more info.
