I have to add Biochar in 42 kg of soil taken in lysimeter. the rate of biochar is @ 1% on C equivalent basis. Need help in the calculation of Biochar needed in each lysimeter
For an amount of 1% C equivalent it is better considering the value of carbon present in your biochar. Elemental carbon can be analysed and the equivalent value of biochar can be added. E.g. if your biochar has 30% carbon, you need to add 0.3g char in 300 g soil.
Estimating C equivalent with metal profiles of your char known will also help, but rest depends on the purpose of your experiment.
Then you can also consider estimating the approx organic carbon flux for amount of CO2 release expected from application of biochar and reduced CO2 equivalent from the amount of N2O eliminated. All the best
