1. Campbell’s "Introduction to Remote Sensing (5th Edition)" is great to understand basic Remote Sensing terminology, concepts from an Earth Sciences student’s perspective.

2. Thinking about GIS by Roger Tomlinson.

3. Lillesand and Kiefer’s "Remote Sensing and Image Interpretation" is also excellent for starters.
