I am searching for information about Bladder Urinary Retention in Children without obvious structural or neurological pathology. Please give me a hand.
9 year old female, with no structural obvious malformation. With no neurological problems.
Urinary infections since 3 weeks old.
Antibiotic resistance of the infecting is setting in.
I know this is a research based community, but maybe any of you can help me with this topic.
The normal voiding patterns in infants and children has not been completely established although several studies have been performed in infants and children with no apparent symptoms.
Etiology of bladder dysfunction in many aspects is still unclear. The dynamic
property of lower urinary tract is complex as mature bladder
function takes place with the growth of the child.
In your particular case, the raised question will be: Does she suffer of constipation?
The second probability will be the non-neurogenic bladder dysfunction in childhood associated with urinary obstruction. this can be labeled as an unstable bladder. This may be due to delay in central nervous system maturation rather than pathological
condition of the urinary tract .

The patient in this case has no neurological problems at all. 100% normal baby, who started having urinary infections out of the blue. Ultrasounds are normal. Cystouretrogram reveals incomplete voiding. Probably 15-20% retainment or urine. There is no VU reflux. Her bladder shape is normal.
