I have an experience using Bingham plastic fluid, but it was long time ago, when I made my undergraduate thesis on 1979-80. One of the way to avoid the sedimentation was to control the flow to be above the settling velocity.

thanks for the hint. Unfortunately I have to deal with flow in fissures and/or porous media, which is itself very slow.
