I have been using several binders for oxide ceramic foams produced by replica of a polymeric template and sintering. None of them is the ideal one to me. Cracks can occur during drying, debinding, sintering. I was wondering if someone is really happy with some polymer. I know, powders play a big role but, especially during the early stage of the debinding, having a binder with the right CTE and strenght at 200-300 C can make the difference
Does it need to be organic binder? if high purity is not required, I would say you can try benonite. You can add something like 1%.

yes I would prefer an organic binder to have a pure final product. I was wondering if besides "common" PVA or methylcellulose someone experienced other binders
PVA works as good binder for all type of ceramics. It arrests the cracks while pressing, or sintering.
As a suggestion, no more than 1-3 (% of weight) of PVA per weight of alumina to ensure the burnout (organic phases) and minimizes the flaws generation.
