Modern research points to corporate culture as one of the main challenges to innovation, because corporate culture is the factor that supports adaptation processes to unceasing changes in the environment around the organization, while also promoting the processes of integration into the internal environment. When the culture of the organization is not consistent with its strategy, it becomes an obstacle and innovation (Carbone et al., 2010; Lichtenthaler 2011; Van de Vrande et al., 2009). Therefore, innovation culture must become an integral part of the corporate culture of the company.

The understanding of top management about the importance of innovation for the organization's development is essential. If there is no such understanding, the barrier to innovation processes in the organization will be significant.Another barrier is the weak, incompetently constructed and realized communication. In turn, the weak communication policy prefers the exchange, sharing, spreading and managing knowledge.

The next barrier is the lack of sensitivity to the needs and claims of the stakeholders, as well as the lack of audibility on the part of the organization.

As a 6 times entrepreneur in China and Singapore, I will offer 1) access to funding - as the ecosystem has become more complex, and runway is getting increasingly longer; and 2) capacity building - because many entrepreneurs are ex-corporate and find it difficult to shift mindset.

In my opinion as far as Tanzania is concerned the barriers include (1) Lack of funds- People have an ability to think and come up with very good business ideas but they don't have access to funds to help start the implementation of the ideas. (2) Lack of knowledge - Some ideas don't really need any fund for them to start generating revenue but most people lack that knowledge on how to go about implementing the idea without capital or money. Lack of knowledge on basic tools and methods that can help entrepreneurs and innovators to grow can also be a barrier (3) Commitment- Most of entrepreneurs and innovators lacks commitment of whatever they are doing.People would love to see idea growing into big business in the next half an hour since its inception which is not possible.

Барьеры предпринимательства и инноваций можно разделить на две составляющие:

1. внешняя по отношению к субьекту предпринимательства среда: нормы законодательства, доступ к источникам финансирования; лоббирование интересов, насыщеность рынков сбыта продукцией, которая планируется к выпуску, недостаточный обьем рынка специалистов для привлечения в субьект предпринимательства с учетом инноваций в него;

2. внутренная (внутри субьекта предпринимательства): отсутствие политической воли учредителей и высшего управленческого персонала субьекта предпринимательства относительно изменений в структуре субьекта предпринимательства, недостаточный уровень знаний в отношении рисков, связанных с инновациями и путей минимизации их действия, возможное изменеие использование части прибыли на новые проекты, уменшение обьемов прибыли для выплаты дывидендов.

"Knowledge is power" but anything good is also a double-edged sword. Knowledge also breeds caution, sometimes unnecessarily. And too much caution (or some would rather call it "prudence") is the most imprudent thing for an entrepreneurial society or person. One can (and a nation may) effectively maximize returns and minimize risks if:

1) The kinds of knowledge or information it assimilates is sufficient

2) If one/nation takes the necessary action

The converse of "knowledge is power" is when condition 2) is not met. "Knowledge is power" for knowledge economies happens because 1) informs, but does not deter 2).

Scientific research and discoveries expand the knowledge resources that can and should be used to solve civilization development problems. Are emerging new knowledge resources still included among the significant factors of entrepreneurship and innovation development? But are other factors even more important?

The topic is very interesting, and is still up to date. On my oppinion, the barriers to the development of entrepreneurship and innovation in current knowledge-based economies can be related to the lack sufficient knowledge as many have said it. In most schools and universities for instance in developping countries, the way student are learning is based on the system of "remembering not on thinking". Students are not trained to identify problems around, and think about solution to them, but trained to rember what has been done by others. I have been working as coach in entrepreneuriat (as entrepreneur), I found that in most people I met, there was no new ideas, no novelity. Africa has required natural resources, but is still poor. The school system Africa had and still has does not show how to use, and transform such resources. Additionnally, the role played by leadership in encouraging innovation can not be neglected. About the question of funding, I do not totally consider as a barrier. An entrepreneur with innovation idea has many ways to exploit his idea: working alone, working with others, or selling his ideas. Research in entrepreneurship is the most difficult as there is no concensus on the real determinant of entrepreneurship.

A question can be whether entrepreneurship can be learnt or is innate. we born entrepreneur or we learn and become entreprenur?

One of the ways our university supports the process from research to commercialization is by initiating "Innohub" companies where researchers' patents are leveraged as collateral for these companies and in return, the Univ gave 100 K (MYR) as a starting fund to kickstart the company. The CEO is often freshly graduating PhD holders who have to undergo rigorous commercialization training. The Univ also at one time employed a consultantship from SRI to train CEOs under its famous NABC. This helps to overcome the barriers to commercialization.
