I did spin coating(2 steps: 500 and 800 RPM, each for 30sec) with 1mg/mL GO aq. solution on a glass substrate and the same solution was drop casted on another glass substrate. (dried on a hot plate at 60 degree Celsius for 5 min). The Raman spectrum of drop casted sample(Right hand side of the image) was identical with standard results but spin coated samples sample gave a high amount of background. Would any one please explain me what is the actual reason behind the background that often appears in Raman spectrum of GO and why it is increased in spin coated sample compared to drop casted one.
@Manav, I repeated the experiment many times and I got approximately the same results. The background for spin coated samples still remained higher compared with drop casted ones. Do you have any idea about this?

When people measure samples by Raman spectroscopy, they do not check the focus by the Raman signal, but by the image from the microscope. There is a little bit difference between them. I found that if the sample is very thin and problely not cover all the surface of the glass substrate, the focus is really important to avoid the big background. So changing the focus and measuring more different places of the sample could be helpful. Good luck!
I think the background in your Raman spectroscopy is due fluorescence. Why no try recorded Raman signal a few times in the same place, if you see the background signal is decreased, is due fluorescence effect.
