I have a question in solving a fully developed porous tube. As we know, porous equations are under volume averaging in an r.e.v. So, because of using averaged amount of velocities, is it ok to consider axisymmetric boundary condition in the center of pipe?

but as we see parameters in averaged form, does this method the velocity axisymmetric at the centre?

as we know for obtaining governing equation in a porous medium, we average Navier stokes equation over an r.e.v.(representative elementary volume). the length scale of this volume is larger than pore scale but smaller than domain length scale. so we can solve this equation to obtain the averaged form of velocity. now, is it true we assume axisymmetric boundary condition in center because of averging? absoulutely flow in the porous media is so chaotic. but in it's averaged values, it seems that axisymmetric boundary condition could be implemented.
I guess you confused the numerical solving approach (RANS) and the set of boundary conditions.
As long as you using RANS approach, averaging of flow parameters is exist despite the BC type. Mainly, the geometry (pipe) and flow pattern (rotating flow) can decide whether axisymmetric BC can be applicable or not.
Since you use a tube, I think axisymmetric boundary condition could be implemented.
