I have received a hear-say information, that people with autistic traits are significantly represented among policemen. Supposedly, Tony Attwood detected 15% of them in Australian police force, which is the greatest prevalence, next to IT occupation. Can you help me find that citation ? Also, I am generally interested in articles about what work positions autistic people usually take, are successful at, or at least can keep them for some time. Articles using some quantitative measures / statistics are prefered. I am volunteering to write an article about autistic people in non-stereotypical job position.

tony Atwood has a tendency to throw figures around - there is no research to back up that statistic
I don't have a source for that statistic, but the National Police Autism Association (http://www.npaa.org.uk) may assist your studies.

sorry, can't find specific research at the moment, but I know that many women on the spectrum work\ed as teachers, or caregivers for children, people with disabilities, or animals.
As far as I know, the best workplace includes [the more the better]:
1. the person's SI [special interest]
2. well-known set of roles
3. tolerance to "strange" way of speaking\behavior [stimming, tics]
4. clear hierarchy [who do I call if I have problems?]
Also, women are more likely to change jobs often.
