If you have experienced athlete runners on your treadmill they will know by their perception of effort where they are on their VO2 graph. Additionally you can make some close estimates of VO2 uptake graphs from heart rate with some prior calibration runs. Again use experienced runners, ideally with some knowledge of exercise physiology who can help with “running on perceived effort” - RPE. Approach a local triathlon club, make it a longitudinal study. Training motivations are hard to find these (coronavirus) times!
