I teach Physics and Chemistry teachers. In a recent assignent to creat unit tests (paper and pencil), I had to specifically ask candidates to to assess the science primarily and not to have too many points allocated to algebra and and calculations. The thought came to me that in my own high school teaching I allocated to many points for these. Kinematics, Calculus, and stoicheometry seems to be where calculations take up the majority of some assessments. Have others found this?
